Education Services
Community Education Liaison-Through a partnership with the Indian River School District, La Esperanza commenced a Community Education Program. The goal of this program is to empower parents to become more involved in their children's education. It is our hope that this program will have a positive impact on the high dropout rate that currently exists among Latino students in Delaware.
English Language Learners-La Esperanza provides ELL classes specifically for non-English speaking adults. We teach English listening and speaking skills-while at the same time help build relationships with the community.
Citizenship Classes-Our citizenship classes are provided throughout the year to assist eligible non-US citizens accomplish their dream of becoming a United States citizen. Each month approximately 4 individuals participate in the citizenship classes; last year a total of 20 persons obtained their citizenship.
Girl Scouts-Our Girl Scout program for girls ages 8-13, gives young girls the opportunity to learn new skills from arts and crafts to safety and leadership. The girls are offered the opportunity to attend camp during the summer where they can have fun and experience the outdoors.
Storytelling-Reading is fun, but it is even better when it is brought to life. Storytelling time, featuring live-action storytellers and popular authors, is entertaining for children of all ages. Parents are encouraged to attend.
